Aka throwing out chunks of the audio in an effort minimize file size. Reply Share Report Save level 1 1 month ago You can get this sound with a bit crusher or a synth that emulates old video game systems. LMMS comes with a great VST called NEScaline that really emulates and old NES sound generator. Magical 8Bit Plugin Ableton Tutorial Mandragora Install LMMS AndLMMS is free so if you cant find a VST version of nescaline just install LMMS and make some loops of the stuff you want and export them as WAVs and bring them into the DAW you normally use. Reply Share Report Save level 1 1 month ago My favorite affordable plug-in for this that has great features for a bit crusher and a high quality sound is Decimort 2 by the d16 group. It can do bit reduction and sample rate reduction jitter with filters built in. To get a more old school, gamey sound myself I would probably use a bit crusher, resample onto Arturias new vst emulation of the E-Mu, mess with settings there and then use a parametric eq to get the frequency content right for the consol ur emulating based on the audio specs if they are available. Could also mix a little noise into the sounds before or after the chain depending on the noise source, and also make the drums for the bit on a synthesizer instead of using samples. Reply Share Report Save level 1 1 month ago Youre looking for a bitcrusher. Krush is my favorite free one. Reply Share Report Save level 1 1 month ago If you use Ableton, there is a stock plugin named Redux in the audio effect section. Theres also a free plugin named Krush that also does the same thing but with more controls. If you are looking for a classic 8-bit synth, theres also a free plugin called Magical 8bit that you can use for an authentic 8-bit experience The website is in japanese, but you should easily get around it with a goal translate Hope that helps 1 Reply Share Report Save level 1 Moderator of redmproduction, speaking officially 1 month ago This is your friendly reminder to read the submission rules, theyre found in the sidebar.
